Round 6 Final Race Recap

BQND here bringing you a recap of the final race from Round 6 at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan. As most of our series have, the championship was still up for grabs here on the last lap. Check out the story of a great race and a well earned 2 million credits, and better yet bragging rights. If I remember correctly Spitefire basically needed to win and I needed a bad race for him to take the Championship after my dismal performance in the 2nd race led to me giving up the lead to Kenji Urban on the last lap and losing the valuable points I would need to seal the deal going into this last race. Let's see if Spitfire can pull it off.

The calm before the storm

Marcus jumps out ot an early lead with the field in toe.

TnT, Dark, and Spitfire start up a battle for the 2nd spot.

Bumper to bumper to bumper for quite a while
Dono,Myself and Kenji fight at the tail end of the field. This is where Spitfire needs me to stay so he can make his charge to the front.
Dono hit's his entery very early trying to leave me room after a strong charge down the straight away to start lap 2. He shoots out in the center of the corner and grabs ahold of it just in time to stay off of my bumper. Nearly ending my championship hopes..
I'm certianly not giving Spitfire anything. We're racing for 3rd right here.

Dono flex's some of that BMW's muscle on this speed track and puts himself in the battle taking the spot from both of us. Kenji and TnT battle to catch up in the backround.

We both out break Dono into the corner but Spitfire nearly goes off the track. He pulls it back on and swings out only inches in front of me. Again, I got lucky and avoided a disaster that would have most likely killed my shot at the championship. This allowed Dono back by both of us.

I got back out in front of Spitfire.

TnT catches up & we enter the straight away in a four way battle. Team Solstice to the inside please!! Unfortunatley after winning the second race at Boomslang, Kenji couldn't get his Sprinter into the battle for this race. You can see him hustling the car back there.

Positions are swapped back and forth as shown here, Dono and I are wheel to wheel.

Here's Spitefire back in 6th. With me in 3rd his title hopes are over, but he'd be back. He passes TnT here to reclaim the 5th spot.

Chasing down Dono to reclaim the 4th spot

Meanwhile up front Dark starts to really challange Marcus for the lead for the first time in the race.

Kenji and TnT are fighting for 6th. We've got battles for position from the front to the back.

The battle for the lead slowed down the pace of these two drivers and after getting by me for 3rd Spitfire is mounting the charge he needs if he's going to win the 2 million credits.

Marcus and Dark break away from Spitfire and continue the cat and mouse game for a few laps with Spitfire never too far behind.

After a few laps of not much action up here, Spitefire opens up a can of whoop ass and points it at Dark, spraying that shit all in his face as he mounts a charge for second. (damn im funny)

But when the can emptied, it appeared to be over again for Spitefire and with me running in 4th, he needed more than 3rd place.

Heading into the very last corner Dark makes one last charge at Marcus for the win.

A split second after this pic he makes contact and turns Marcus around in the last corner!

Ouch. But look who's in third ready to capitalize.

Marcus gets it straight and Spitfire flies through the corner to go after the win he needs to take home the championship. Second place will not be enough points.

It's a drag race with the checkers flying. Dark has the edge as they accelerate.

Then Spitfire

Then Dark as he cuts into Spitfire in an attempt to slow him down just a little bit, and it backfires.

Spitfire regains a bumper on him just before the checkers

and takes it. A pass for the win with the checkers in sight and secures a Championship in the process. A true triumph for Spitfire. I remember hearing the ruckus as Marcus got turned around in the last corner wondering what was going on and where Spitfire was, trying to see where I was and if I had enough points to win the whole thing. When Spitfire came up the winner my jaw hit the floor. I cried myself to sleep that night.
